Having the opportunity to spend time around the local high school students, I realize just how much they rebel. Since the governmental removal of God, the children have decided more things must be eliminated; such things as the government and administration telling them to stop believing in God! If you have the chance to sit back and observe as an outsider, you may be shocked at the things you’ll hear. Some students actually do sit in public school talking about their belief in God and how this belief is leading them to reach goals that society says they will never achieve.
When asked about why they chose to rebel in this manner, they defend their discussions passionately! These students believe that the lack of religion in school has a direct reflection on lack of morals their fellow students have. They feel if the administration would pay attention to the more important issues in the children’s lives and stop worrying about lawsuits perhaps the young ladies stop having babies just because they can and the young men involved would not only keep their pants zipped but focus on a career instead of hatred.
I am shocked at the number of students that actually are focused on goals. I’ve known some of these students since first grade when the “administration” labeled them as Learning Disabled. One LD student is honors bound with aspirations of becoming a lawyer. Another labeled young lady is determined to become a doctor and already has a full four year college scholarship.
Perhaps these students know something that adults don’t. Perhaps they know that the bible clearly states: "I can do all things through Christ which strengthens me." (Philippians 4:13) These students seem to know that faith is the assurance of things hoped for, the evidence of things not seen. Somehow by attempting to take god away from them has had backfired in the most positive way.
